(CHEHALIS, WA) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is
seeking public comment as part of the development of an Environmental Impact
Statement for a proposed wind energy project in Lewis and Thurston counties.
The proposed Skookumchuck Wind Energy Project would consist
of up to 38 wind turbines and associated infrastructure.
Skookumchuck Wind Energy Project, LLC intends to submit a
Habitat Conservation Plan in support of an Incidental Take Permit for the
federally listed marbled murrelet and protected bald and golden eagles.
There will be two public meetings for people to learn about
the project and submit comments. One is Tuesday, May 8 at 6 PM at the Lacey
campus of South Puget Sound Community College. A second is Thursday, May 10 at
6 PM at Centralia College.
