Centralia Police Warn of Utility Collection Scam (KELA Radio, Centralia, WA)

(CENTRALIA, WA) -- The Centralia Police Department along with the Centralia Utilities Center is warning Centralia utility customers about a scam involving bogus collection calls.

The Utilities Center has received several complaints from customers about a possible scam. Customers received a call from a male warning the customer that if they didn’t pay their utility bill immediately, the utilities would be disconnected.

If you receive such a call, you are urged to hang up and call the Centralia Utilities Center at 330-7657, which is the only valid Centralia Utility Customer Service Center number.

Onalaska Wildfire Forces Evacuations (KELA Radio, Centralia, WA)

(ONALASKA, WA) -- A new wildfire on Sunday prompted evacuations in Lewis County but those people are now back in their homes. The Washington Department of Natural Resources said Sunday afternoon the fire was burning near Onalaska and was estimated to be about 80 acres. Northwest Cable News Network reports officials say four homes had been threatened but firefighters were able to stop the flames before they reached the residences. According to DNR, the affected areas included from Gish Road to Clark Road.
