(CHEHALIS) – Crisp overnight weather might have
you reaching for the thermostat. A
recent rate hike by the Lewis County PUD means you’ll be dipping further into your wallet
later. There was an 8-percent increase
at the first of the month. There’s also a
5-percent hike looming by next spring.
The local power provider wants you to think conservation to help ease
the burden. The PUD’s Norm Goodbla says
one simple step is to unplug all those electronic gadgets when they’re not
being used. Goodbla says DVD players,
cordless phones, and other electronics are a growing part of the average
household’s energy usage. The PUD links the rate increases to the BPA and a
voter approved initiative that requires the local utility to increase the use
of green energy.
