Monroe School District was recently awarded a Planet Power grant by the Snohomish PUD.
The award of $28,018 will provide a demonstration and teaching solar power generating installation at Park Place Middle School along with teaching and classroom materials.
Planet Power grants are provided through contributions of PUD customers. The program supports local small-scale solar demonstration projects on buildings such as schools, libraries, city halls and other community sites where customers can learn about solar power and see the technology in use, to raise awareness of energy use and alternative energy sources.
Construction and installation of the building portions of the project will be done during the summer and fall.
