(Pasco,
WA) At Franklin PUD’s Board of Commissioners regular meeting
today, Commissioner Stu Nelson, District 3, was sworn in for the 2013 – 2018
term. Commissioner Nelson has served as Franklin PUD Commissioner for the
past nine years, having helped reduce rates three times by being fiscally
conservative and cutting internal costs where appropriate, while maintaining a
high level of service.
Mr. Nelson
brings 34 years of experience as a small business owner to the position.
He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Northwest Public Power
Association; he is a member of the Participants Review Board for Energy
Northwest, and represents Franklin PUD at the Public Power Council and the
Washington PUD Association.
During his
campaign, he ran on three principle priorities including keeping rates as low
as reasonably possible for Franklin PUD customers, reliability of our power
system, and service to Franklin PUD customers. “I believe the essence of
public power is local control – with our customers having a voice in everything
we do. I will continue to set policy for Franklin PUD with the best
interests of our customers in mind. It is an honor to serve as District
3, Franklin PUD Commissioner”, stated Mr. Nelson.
