Oregon - Clatskanie PUD Collects Food (Northwest Public Power Association)

Clatskanie People’s Utility District recently held a month-long food drive to help stock the shelves of Turning Point Community Services Center in Clatskanie and H.O.P.E. of Rainier.

Customers were encouraged to bring in items throughout the month of November. In addition, CPUD employees and the board of directors were divided into teams to see who could bring in the most items. Part of the healthy competition began with coming up with a team name. The teams came up with creative names, including Power Feeders; Primary Providers; D. Hooper & the Souper Stars; J. Willey & the Chow Seekers; and Team B.

In the end, the community, employees, and board gathered 1,283 pounds of food. The winning employee team, D. Hooper and the Souper Stars, brought in 336 pounds of food alone, accounting for about a quarter of the total food brought in.

“It was a successful event and one of the many ways our PUD employees and board help the local communities during these tough economic times,” said General Manager Greg Booth.
